Using the app
How do I add someone? Only at an in-person meeting. Open the QR tab: one person shows the code, the other scans it. If the camera does not work, there is a short code you can read out loud. The code is valid for 5 minutes and works once.
Why can't I add someone by link or by username? That is the whole point of 6hands. Every connection in the network means that two people really did stand next to each other. If adding at a distance were allowed, the network would stop meaning anything.
What is a "hand"? The unit of distance between people. 1 hand is someone you have met in person. 2 hands is their acquaintance. And so on, up to six levels.
Why do I see only counters instead of names? Names are open up to 2 hands. Beyond that you can see that a person is in your network and at what distance, but not who they are. That is privacy by default.
How do I let people see me nearby? In your profile, turn on the "open to talk" status and allow access to your location. The status is temporary and switches itself off.
Who sees my precise location? Only contacts at a distance of 1 hand. For everyone else, coordinates are coarsened to about 200 metres. Only the last point is stored and it stops being used after 15 minutes — there is no location history.
How do I find the right person for a task? Describe the task in the task matcher. The app walks your network up to six hands and shows suitable people, the role of each intermediary, and the chain by which you can reach the person. It works on rules over profile fields, not a language model: the app does not read your correspondence.
How do I delete a connection? In the contact's profile. Deletion is mutual: the connection disappears for both of you and the shared chat closes.
Account
I forgot my password. What can I do? Unfortunately, nothing. We do not ask for an email or a phone number, so we have no way of confirming that the account is yours and no channel for a password reset. An account with a lost password is lost for good. All we can do is delete it on request from support@6-hands.com. Keep your password in a password manager.
Can I change my username? No, the login is unique and permanent. The display name can be changed at any time.
How do I delete my account? Profile → delete account → password confirmation. A single operation deletes your profile, all connections, chats, invitations and coordinates. Restoration is not possible.
Safety and reports
How do I report a user or a message? The "Report" button in the user's profile and in the chat. Or by email to support@6-hands.com with the username and a description of the situation. We reach a decision within 24 hours. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and for users who behave abusively.
How do I block someone? Delete the connection — it is removed for both of you, the chat closes, and the person ceases to be an intermediary in your chains.
Does the app check who these people are? No. We do not verify identities, names or any information in profiles. A handshake confirms only the fact that two devices met. Meet in public places and do not hand over documents, money or access credentials to strangers.
Are messages encrypted? The connection is protected by HTTPS, but there is no end-to-end encryption at the moment. Do not send passwords or payment details through chats.
Data and privacy
What data do you collect? Your name, login, password hash and whatever you enter in your profile yourself. We do not ask for an email or a phone number. There is no advertising, no analytics and no trackers in the app. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Where is the data stored? On servers in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Is the app paid? No. There are no in-app purchases or subscriptions. If paid features appear in the future, we will give notice in the app at least 14 days in advance.
Technical questions
The QR code will not scan. Check the camera permission in your system settings, wipe the lens and try the short code — it always works.
It does not show people nearby. Check that the "open to talk" status is on, that the location permission has been granted, and that location services are enabled in the system itself. People with the status switched off are not shown on the map — that is not a bug.
Messages do not arrive / the app is slow. Write to support@6-hands.com: device model, OS version, app version and exactly what happened. Attach a screenshot if you can.
What the /support page itself must contain (checklist)
- [ ] App name and logo
- [ ] Support email as a clickable `mailto:support@6-hands.com` link
- [ ] A stated response time (24 hours) — Apple looks at this during UGC review
- [ ] Links to the Privacy Policy, Terms of Use and EULA
- [ ] A form or address for reporting content and users
- [ ] "How to delete your account" instructions — a mandatory Google Play requirement, and deletion must also be available via the web, not only in the app. Set up a separate page at https://6-hands.com/delete-account describing the steps and giving an address for deletion requests; its URL goes in Play Console under Data safety → Account deletion.
- [ ] Individual entrepreneur details (name, TIN, address) — Google Play requires developer details to be displayed publicly
